Eight regional open houses were held May through June 2011 throughout Maryland to encourage the public to learn about and provide feedback on PlanMaryland. Attendees were given the opportunity to learn about the draft Plan, and talk to state staff and provide comments and input on the draft Plan. |

While the documents on this site did not constitute a final PlanMaryland document, they provided readers with an understanding of the direction that the final plan would likely take. |

13 PlanMaryland Public Forums held
MDP completed 13 regional Public Forums throughout the state. Public Forums were held weekly from March 19th to June 16th, 2010. Hundreds of people participated in this second round of public outreach to share attitudes and opinions about Maryland's 12 Planning Visions.

Stakeholder Outreach
MDP conducted interviews with leaders of diverse stakeholder groups. The purpose was to get an initial understanding of the challenges and the issues facing a broad array of constituents on the subject of statewide growth and development.
Initial Meetings with Maryland State Agencies
In the early part of 2009 MDP facilitated meetings with other state agencies for broad discussions on the state growth plan.
MDP staff planning for state development plan, PlanMaryland gets its name
MDP staff created timelines and a project schedule for the 2-year plan effort to develop the state growth plan. The plan was named PlanMaryland.

9 Smart Growth Listening Sessions held
Held jointly by MDP and the Task Force on the Future for Growth and Development, these public sessions provided the opportunity for Marylanders to speak out on regional smart growth issues and to provide input into what a state development (or growth) plan should include. Sessions were held between September 16 and December 11, 2008.
